Chapter 1 to 4. Chinese Cinderella


5 COMMENTS-

-The main character is really smart. She gets many awards.
-I think her brothers and sister are mean because they are blaming her for her mothers death.
-Niang seems like a gold digger because she's wearing expensive clothes and jewelry.
-The explain Niang like at the time in Of Mice and Men when they explain Curley's wife.
-Their family seems very rich.

4 QUESTIONS-

-Is the main characters Aunt Baba like her mom instead?
-Why doesn't the main characters siblings forgive her already? The incident was only coincidental.
-Why would Chinese women even bound their feet? I think thats gross.
-Why do some of her siblings praise her and some scold her?

3 VOCABULARY-

Concession-the act of conceding or yielding, as a right, a privilege, or a point or fact in an argument.
Fringed-a decorative border of thread, cord, or the like, usually hanging loosely from a raveled edge or separate strip.
Imperiously-domineering in a haughty manner; dictatorial; overbearing

2 LITERARY TERMS-

Imagery- She was almost as tall as father, stood very straight and dressed only in French clothes, many of which came from Paris. Her thick, wavy black hair never had a curl out of place.

Onomatopoeia- I rushed in and plopped my schoolbag down onto my bed.

1 OVERVIEW SENTENCE-

These 4 chapters basically talk about the main characters young child days in life and that it begins to introduce her family and her ways in school.
